Managing Editor, CNBC.com

If you are a regular reader of our Web site, you no doubt are familiar with the byline of Jeff Cox.

"Debt, Deficits, and the Demise of the American Economy" by Peter J. Tanous and Jeff Cox

He's one of our primary reporters for subjects surrounding markets, the economy, and general investment trends. He is also a contributor to NetNet, our Wall Street blog, and makes appearances on the CNBC network from time to time.

In his spare time (insert smirk here) he has written a book ... Debts, Deficits, and the Demise of the American Economy ... in conjunction with Peter Tanous, a finance professional and author.

I'll warn you. The book is pretty grim and paints a thoroughly bleak picture of the economic state the country is in. But it also offers some solutions for getting out of the situation generally and protecting one's finances individually.

You can check out the first chapter here. In the acutal book,Amazon link here, there's an added bonus of a forward by Rick Santelli.

Congratulations to Jeff.

One of our writers has come out with a book painting a pretty bleak picture of our economic future, with a few silver linings.
