Hulu Sees Half a Billion in Revenue in 2011: CEO

Hulu is on track to “approach half a billion in 2011 revenue” as its number of paying subscribers increases, the company's CEO said on Wednesday.

CEO Jason Kilar said on a company blog post that the number of video ads on Hulu surpasses competing services by about 2 times.

The company has also increased the range of devices that the subscription service Hulu Plus can be accessed from.

“In the past 90 days, we have made Hulu Plus available on Xbox 360 and Kinect, select Android smart phones, Tivo Premiere DVRs, and select Samsung Blu-Ray players. Collectively, this means an additional 25 million devices are capable of accessing the Hulu Plus service,” Kilar said.

Hulu saw nearly 1 million subscribers in its first 7.5 months and hopes to increase this number as it continues with plans to make "Hulu Plus available on every internet connected device," Kilar said.

Representatives at Hulu were not immediately available for comment.

Hulu is owned by Comcast'sNBC Universal , News Corp, Walt Disneyand Providence Equity Partners.

The company has begun preliminary sales talks with about a dozen potential buyers, including Googleand Microsoft, a source familiar with the situation said last week.
