Companies both large and small have been slow in creating jobs in the current recovery and have cited many reasons for it, from the impact of new government regulation to the possibility of higher taxes in the future. Others say it is simply a matter of weak demand.

Still, corporate profits are growing and the economy has been expanding for two years, prompting some to say Corporate America is being stingy.

President Obama and the Congress are considering a number of incentives for job creation and the President has challenged companies to take a chance and add workers.
