Honda Civic No Longer Recommended by Consumer Reports

The Honda Civic, long a top-selling car with a solid reputation for reliability and dependability, is no longer being recommended by Consumer Reports. CR's latest issue includes a review of 2012 small sedans and hatchbacks.

In the issue, Consumer Reports pulls no punches on the Civic saying, "Stopping distances are long, the ride is choppy, road noise is pronounced, and the interior feels cheap."

Honda responded to the Consumer Reports non-recommendation, saying, "The new Civic excels in areas that matter to small-car customers, including fuel efficiency, safety, and reliability."

Consumers have bought the Civic in large numbers year after year. In fact, it's often among the top-selling vehicles, right up there with the Toyota Camry, Toyota Corolla and Honda Accord.

But Consumer Reports feels the Civic is no longer a top small sedan. Its list of top picks includes:

1. Hyundai Elantra

2. Nissan Sentra

3. Subaru Impreza

4. Toyota Corolla

5. Kia Forte

6. Mazda3
