The average wait time for an appointment with a family physician was three weeks, according to a Merritt Hawkins 2009 survey. In some cities in America, it was as much as two months.

While some people are frustrated about the long wait times, some believe doctors are doing their jobs and the wait time depends on the different procedures doctors perform for the patient.
