Report: Best Buy In Talks to Sell Amazon Kindle Tablet
Best Buy is in talks with Amazon.com to carry its new Kindle tablet, according to published reports. If the electronics retailer does agree to distribute Amazon's tablets, one analyst thinks it could be a good thing for Best Buy.
"Ultimately that is a good thing for Best Buy . They do very well with the Kindle," Peter Keith, senior research analyst at Piper Jaffray. "But you have to remember that the Kindle, when that was originally launched by Amazon , it was distributed by Amazon for several months. So we'll see how it shakes out over the holiday season."
Amazon likely wants to be the sole distributor of the Kindle, so as to maximize profits. It's possible, though, that Best Buy could get some access. At this point, only time will tell.
