Daniel Yergin's best-selling new book, "The Quest: Energy, Security and the Remaking of the Modern World" is an in-depth look at the state of the global energy industry that picks up where his Pulitzer Prize winning, "The Prize: the Epic Quest for Oil, Money and Power" left off.
"The Quest" was released Sept. 20 and has made it to the short list of finalists for the 2011 Financial Times and Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award.
Yergin spoke to CNBC's Patti Domm Monday about the breakthroughs in shale production, which he wrote about in his book.
