$6 Looks Like Major Support for BofA, Says Fast Pro

Banks landed on the trader radar after the latest 13F filings offered some insight on how top investors are playing the space.

Of great interest to the traders were the moves by Bruce Berkowitz and John Paulson; both billionaire investors increased their Bank Of America exposure.

Looking at the charts, “BofA keeps bouncing off $6,” explains trader Steve Cortes.

“I think $6 may be setting up as a major level of support. Three out of the past four days BofA has bottomed out right at $6. And when I say bounce, it doesn’t bounce just a few cents, it bounces 20 or 30 cents, which for a $6 stock is significant."

However, he adds, "If BofA breaks $6 and closes below that level, I'd play it short."

Trader Brian Kelly has another idea.

He suggests looking at European banks with exposure to emerging markets - Santander, for example.

“It’s possible that Europe’s leaders and the ECB are going to come in and support bonds. That takes away the Armageddon trade. And when you look around the globe you can see growth is coming from emerging markets. Santander has exposure to EM but got beat up because it's a European bank."
