Rocco DiSpirito Launches Healthy Food Truck

Many of the 67 percent of Americans who are obese are children. And that’s something celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito wants to change.

Hoping to introduce healthy options on school lunch menus, DiSpirito has opened a “Now Eat This!” food truck, featuring healthy food choices. The truck pulls up to schools in the New York City area and delivers the healthy alternatives including chicken noodle soup and chicken and broccoli stir fry.

“I want to change kids’ minds about healthy food,” DiSpirito said. “I want them to see healthy and delicious are no long mutually exclusive."

Recent food truck options included a healthy black-bean brownie cupcake with only 100 calories.

The truck is part of DiSpirito’s larger effort to encourage kids and families to cook fresh, whole food as often as possible. “This is the day that could be the tipping point for some of these kids,” he said.
