Activision Games Sell, Whatever the Platform: CEO

Sales of Activision Blizzard's games, particularly "Modern Warfare 3" and "Skylanders," performed "better than our expectation," CEO Bobby Kotick told CNBC Monday, without giving details.

That achievement looks even better considering the games sold at full price, not at huge Black Friday discounts. He noted the price on some of the company's products haven't risen in years. "When you do the math...it doesn't cost you very much," to buy an Activision game.

While selling through retailers, including Walmart and Target , Kotick said Activision is also developing an online and mobile presence.

"We're never the first on a new platform," Kotick said. "We're usually the best, but not the first. We have a lot that we're developing for mobile. We have a lot that we're developing for Facebook as a platform. We're taking our time."

He called the Apple iPad a "great platform" and "a whole new opportunity," but said Activision is "very device independent. Whether it is Microsoft or some of the other games or Facebook or Apple, we’ve always been a very platform-agnostic company."
