Pete Najarian's Top Picks for 2012
Looking to put money to work in 2012 but unsure exactly how to deploy your capital? Pete Najarian has a few ideas.
The Fast Money Pit Boss suggests playing a few major themes:
“Start with the rails,” he says. “They worked in 2011." In other words, continue to buy relative strength and avoid relative weakness - a theme that has worked this year.
And Najarian sees plenty of catalysts to drive the sector in 2012, including demand for coal and the growth in shale exploration.
“Look at Union Pacific,” he counsels. “On any kind of pull back, I like it.”
Najarian likes this space broadly because he expects to see a rotation out of bonds and into stocks – however, he thinks that money will seek defensive names.
“I think people will be looking for valuations and for yield. That alone should generate performance in this space.” He suggests looking at Pfizer, Lilly , Bristol Myers and/or Merck .
Najarian sees Starbucks as a growth story sprinkled with a bit of sin stock.
“Their international growth is strong; they’re opening 150 stores in China alone. And here in the US people really, really crave their coffee.”
