Since American International Toy Fair wrapped up last week, Consumer Nation has been looking at all the latest trends as the industry tries to revive sales.

One of the most apparent trends was the use of augmented reality in kids' toys. Much of this is based on the increased use of smartphones such as Apple's [AAPL

] iPhone and tablets such as the iPad. Toymakers are finally giving retailers a chance to cash in on the app craze by selling toys that can be used with the devices.
Consumer Nation rounded up some of the most interesting examples of how apps are shaping toys and toys are shaping the use of apps in our slideshow, "Gen App: Toys, Tech & Tablets."
