Apple has sold three million new iPads since its launch Friday, March 16, the company said Monday.

“The new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold?the strongest iPad launch yet,” Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said in a statement.

The company's latest tablet includes new features such as a faster processor, a longer battery life and new Retina Display.

However, since the iPad launched, just three days ago, there have already been consumer complaints about how the iPad is overheating.

Apple's stock closed at $601.10 Monday and rose above $603 in after-hours trading.
