It’s her birthday, and she’ll Tweet if she wants to.

Lady Gaga, that is. As the entrepreneurial singer celebrates her 26th birthday today — who told fellow mega-entrepreneur Oprah earlier this month that she is taking a break from interviews — she is letting her fans know she is thinking of them by tweeting a photo of herself without makeup.

Don’t forget, the “Born This Way” singer knows how to use social media to her advantage —she was, after all the, first artist to get more than 1 billion views on YouTube.

The photo has gone viral, giving all her fans a rare glimpse of what Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta looks like in her down time.

It’s always fascinating to see how Gaga controls the message, and social media. Connecting with her fans — or "Little Monsters", as she calls them — via social media, she’s been able to rack up more than 21 million loyal followers, a feat any business owner would envy. Her road to success is even a case study for one business school.

But the ultimate businesswoman, who earned $62 million last year in a variety of ventures, including partnering with Polaroid to sell sunglasses and Dr. Dre to sell headphones, is not averse to rolling up her sleeves to do the hard work, as we found out earlier this year when her Dad opened up a restaurant.

Whether she will be celebrating with her family at Dad’s restaurant is not known. But she did share a photo with her followers, taken just a few hours before her birthday, of a sad looking piece of cake on a paper plate, a single candle stuck in the middle. “This is how it feels turning 26 in three and a half hours. Ha!” she writes.

And her followers are eating up every word.
