Trading Retailers Ahead of Earnings

If you’re a trader who plays retail you’ve got a big week ahead.

A slew of the biggest names in the space report quarterly results all week.

How should you trade it?

Trader Stephen Weiss tells us JC Penney is a short. “Although I can’t tell you what the quarter will be, I can tell you the turnaround doesn't seem to be working. I think the new pricing strategy is a flawed strategy.”

Trader Joe Terranova says of all the names in the space, he finds Gap most interesting. “If it sells off after earnings, I’m a buyer of a pullback,” he says.

Trader Mike Murphy thinks there’s a play to be had in Abercrombie. “It’s pulled back a lot, I think there’s a pop coming for a play,” he says.
