Facebook Friend Phenomenon

Unlike most IPOs, 900 million people around the globe already have a connection to this company, says Alan Patricof, founder and managing director at Greycroft Patricof. In other words, Facebook is so pervasive in people’s lives that they feel attached. “The general public has been anticipating Facebook’s IPO for almost a year,” he says. And Steve Grasso,a trader who works on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, chimes in: “There’s that much buzz that people are going to trip over themselves to be a part of it.” That could lead to irrational exuberance.
