Trade of the Day – Stealth Energy Play

Tuesday, 19 Jun 2012 | 7:16 PM ET

Trader Brian Kelly has taken a shine to a stealth solar play. Get the details here.

Kelly is recommending a long position in Applied Materials.

Well known as a maker of semiconductor chips used in tablets and smartphones, Applied Materials is also a market leader in high-volume, high yield, cost-effective PV wafers used in the manufacture of solar power.

“Japan just restarted their nuclear program but as part of the agreement they’re also requiring renewable energies – it’s estimated that solar demand from Japan will increase 85% because of the requirement,” says Kelly.

And he thinks AMAT stands to benefit.

Also Kelly likes Applied Materials for yield. Ontop of the solar energy catalyst, “It has a 3% dividend,” he says.

Trade of the Day: Applied Materials Up 4.5% YTD
The Fast Money traders explain why they have chosen Applied Materials as their "trade of the day."
