Microsoft revealed a strategy move into hardware with its Surface tablet Monday, and the company doesn't seem to be slowing down.

The software giant is kicking off its developers conference, called Windows Phone Summit, today in San Francisco. The company is widely expected to unveil the latest features of Windows Phone 8, the Windows Phone operating system.

Nothing has been revealed yet, but it's expected Windows Phone OS will support multicore processors, near field communication (NFC) and other features.

We'll have more details on what's being revealed later. But follow CNBC's technology reporter Jon Fortt on twitter@JonForttfor the latest updates. He'll be sitting in on the conference, which is slated to start at 12:00 PM ET.
