Sitting around in a garden tent that served PepsiCo products for free, I witnessed one Aspenista talking about plans to build an international shipping port on an undeveloped Haitian island. He whipped out his iPad to show a map of the island to his conversational partner. Then they flipped through pictures of the beaches.

As the two men left to go listen to Richard Florida talk about the future of cities, their spot was taken by the diplomat Richard Haas, fresh from a panel addressing the question of whether the EU will survive. \(Haas's short answer: yes.\) He immediately began sending emails from his iPad.

During a panel in the Supreme Court's healthcare decision, the two women to my left were tapping away. So was the guy on my right.
