Two years after recalling millions of vehiclesbecause their floor mats could trap the gas pedal and cause unintended acceleration Toyota is once again issuing a recall for the same problem. This time it involves 154,000 of the 2010 Lexus RX 350 and RX 450 H models.

The recall comes after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration noticed a surge in consumer complaints involving the floor mats of vehicles involved. Following the recall, NHTSA recommended that Lexus owners remove their floor mats and have them serviced immediately. Toyota says that by August it will notify the owners of models involved in the recall.

In late 2009, potential pedal entrapment was cited as the reason for recalling millions of Toyota models. That recall was linked to reports of unintended acceleration. Ultimately there was a broader inquiry by the federal government into unintended acceleration of Toyota and Lexus models.
