London, 5 July 2012 – CNBC, the leading business and financial news network, continues its successful CNBC Meets series, with an exclusive interview with one of the world’s most famous and successful entrepreneurs, and creator of the Virgin brand, Sir Richard Branson. The programme will premiere on the network on Wednesday, 18th July at 10.00pm BST.

In this highly personal interview, Branson speaks with CNBC Meets host, Tania Bryer on Necker Island, his private retreat in the Caribbean; at his home in Oxfordshire and in Oslo for a meeting with ‘The Elders’ - a independent group of global leaders who work together for peace and human rights, put together by Branson and Peter Gabriel.

Branson reveals stories about his childhood that give an insight into what drives and motivates him today. He talks about leaving school at just 16, branded stupid due to his dyslexia, and starting a magazine called Student, which eventually led to the launch of the globally successful Virgin brand. Branson discusses his meteoric rise and how ‘luck’ has always played a big part in his life. He also explains how his family have coped with all his daredevil stunts and near fatal crashes.

Bryer also sits down with Eve Branson, Richard’s mother and inspiration, who talks openly and honestly about what it is really like to have Richard Branson as a son.

The programme also features interviews with Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter who share their thoughts on Branson’s achievements, both personally and professionally and explain how his philanthropic endeavours make a difference to so many lives around the world.

The CNBC Meets series features up close and personal interviews with some of the world’s most successful people and asks them how they have achieved success in their career, their home life and about their commitments to philanthropy.

Transcript, review copies and stills from the programme are available upon request.
