Paul Ryan Gives P90X a Lift: Creator
Paul Ryan isn’t the only one in Washington who uses the P90X workout system, Michelle Obama and members of the Secret Service are using it, too, creator Tony Horton told CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street.”
Professional football players and Olympians are also working out with the P90X system.
But the nomination of Ryan as the Republication vice president candidate has given a lift to P90X website traffic in what is a seasonally slow period, Horton said Friday.
Perhaps not surprisingly, most people buy the workout system at the start of the year. “December, January, and February do fairly well. People have their New Year’s resolutions,” Horton said. “This time of year, people are outside.” (Read More:Muscle Behind P90X.)
So all the interest in Ryan's workout routine has been "a real boost," the P90X creator said.
P90X has been successful because it’s “variety in fitness,” Horton said. “It’s not just Pilates, it’s not just yoga, it’s not just weight training, it’s a combination of a lot of things.”
He added: “The idea here is to prevent injury and boredom and plateaus. It’s also not just about the fitness, it’s also about the food. Exercise is fitness and food is health.”
