Fed Won’t Ease Now or in September: Feldstein

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke won’t announce more quantitative easing anytime soon, Marty Feldstein, chairman emeritus of the National Bureau of Economic Research and an advisor to Mitt Romney, said on Thursday.

Even though there has been some economic growth over the past couple of months, the economy remained “terrible,” he said on “Fast Money.”

That, he said, was enough to keep Bernanke from acting further.

“What’s going to be gained by yet another 25 basis points, even if they could achieve that?” he said. “It’s not going to move housing. It’s not going to move business investment.”
