Avoid ‘Earnings Cliff’ With This Stock: Guy Adami

USBancorp strength provides a way to sidestep weak third-quarter earnings, Drakon Capital’s Guy Adami said Monday on CNBC.

“If you’re looking for slow-and-steady-wins-the-race, that’s where I would continue to go,” he said on “Fast Money.”

Adami pointed to the stock hitting a multiyear high last week.

Earlier, S&P Capital IQ Senior Manager Christine Short highlighted the threat of an earnings cliff.

“What the estimates are telling us right now is that we’re certainly heading for a earnings slowdown, if not a decline,” she said.

Growth for the third quarter could hit negative-2 percent, representing the lowest growth rate since the 2009.
