With Election Day Hours Away, Pros Pick Stocks

Monday, 5 Nov 2012 | 5:32 PM ET

With Election Day just hours away, the CNBC "Fast Money" pros weighed Monday in with their last-minute picks of what stocks and sectors will do well regardless of who wins the presidential race.

Drakon Capital's Guy Adami thought that defense stocks would continue to do well no matter whether President Barack Obama or Mitt Romney is in the White House.

Specifically, he said he liked Lockheed Martin, whose stock has rallied since spring.

How are the "Fast Money" pros trading the election? They share opinions on a few sectors that stand to gain.

EmergingMoney.com's Tim Seymour said that the challenge in picking stocks expected to do well following an Obama re-election victory — in sectors such as health care — was that a lot of the potential gains were already "baked in."

Financial stocks, he said, could take a hit, noting "tons of call buying" in Bank of America.

"I think the bank stocks will do well in either event," said Karen Finerman of Metropolitan Capital Advisors.

The housing market, she added, would help.

Caterpillar was Mike Khouw's top pick, noting that infrastructure spending would help the maker of construction equipment.

"The Northeast is going to need it," he added, referring to the devastation wrought by Hurricane Sandy.
