  • ISLAND ISOLATION: Jamaica's port authority and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. pitched the port of Falmouth as a place where passengers would dive into the historic city for "a wraparound experience not unlike Colonial Williamsburg." But their dollars have been kept at a distance.

  • SAN DIEGO-- PriceSmart Inc. said Monday that a key revenue measurement grew 10 percent in September. The company has five warehouse clubs in Costa Rica, four in Panama, four in Trinidad, and others in Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Aruba, Barbados, Colombia, Jamaica, Nicaragua, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

  • HONG KONG, Oct 4- Hong Kong shares were set to open slightly higher on Thursday with defensive sectors such as telecoms continuing to attract investor interest although gains are likely to be capped by weakness in oil producers after crude prices slumped overnight.

  • KINGSTON, Jamaica-- Jamaica has agreed to waive a bauxite levy at Russian aluminum giant UC Rusal's last operational plant on the island. As part of the one-year concessionary pact, Rusal will maintain its workforce of 600 workers at its Ewarton Alumina Refinery. Jamaican Energy Minister Phillip Paulwell says this will be a $100 million investment.

  • Bolt grabbed the camera from Jimmy Wixtrom, of Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, and snapped shots of the crowd and teammate Yohan Blake, who finished second. Wixtrom put the camera up for sale this week on e-Bay, saying the proceeds will go to the Swedish Cancer Society and Bolt's own foundation for children in Jamaica. eBay is owned by eBay Inc..

  • BERLIN, Oct 1- A German insurance giant revealed employees put a trip to a swingers' hotel in Jamaica on company expenses when it published the results of an internal audit on a public website.

  • KINGSTON, Jamaica-- Curacao's former leader was holed up Sunday inside what used to be his official offices, accusing the acting governor of overstepping her constitutional powers by forming an interim government three weeks before general elections on the Dutch Caribbean island.
