Jon Yankee is chief financial officer and co-founder of FJY Financial, where, in addition to his duties as CFO, partner and senior financial advisor, he leads the firm's human-capital strategy and summer internship program. He specializes in portfolio design and implementation, retirement planning, education planning and cash management for professionals, retirees, young families and nonprofit/charitable organizations.
Yankee sits on the board of directors of the Financial Planning Association's National Capital Area chapter, serving as co-chair of its membership committee. He's a former board member of the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA); and is a NAPFA-registered financial advisor. He speaks at numerous industry events, focusing on internships and hiring practices, and has been quoted in publications such as Investment News, Journal of Financial Planning,Men's Health and Dow Jones Newswires. In June 2013, the National Capital Area chapter of the FPA named Yankee its "Planner of the Year".
Prior to founding FJY, Yankee was a lead advisor at Rembert, Pendleton, & Fox, where he earned his certified financial planner certification. He was also a financial advisor for Merrill Lynch, a financial analyst with the Aerospace Division of Honeywell and a program manager for the Pacific Basin Economic Council.
A resident of Ashburn, Va., Yankee earned his bachelor's degree in international studies, with a focus in Asian Studies and Japanese, from the University of Richmond and his master's in business administration in international management, with a focus on finance, from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
