Kathy Futey, Certified Private Wealth Advisor®, CPWA®, works with private wealth clients with a focus on advanced financial planning for families. She serves as an advisor for families looking to organize and simplify their financial lives while seeking to preserve their lifestyle and their legacy.
Successful completion of the extremely competitive CPWA® certification program results in the award of an advanced credential created specifically for wealth managers who work with executives, closely-held business owners and high net-worth individual clients, focusing on the life cycle of wealth: accumulation, preservation, and distribution. The CPWA® certification process includes a challenging educational program focused on advanced wealth management topics, including: behavioral finance, charitable and estate planning, planning for closely held business owners, planning for executives, portfolio management, retirement planning, risk management, and tax planning.
Futey began her financial services career in 1993 and brings significant experience. She started her career at an Augusta, Georgia based broker-dealer firm, then helped implement the brokerage portion of a start-up securities firm. Futey was with Morgan Stanley both in Augusta, Georgia and Beachwood, Ohio, for more than 11 years. She has experience in several different facets of wealth management, including corporate retirement plans and family trust services.
Futey is also a partner in a wine concern, Sonkin Cellars, LLC, a boutique California winery established by three Cleveland couples. They all share a love of wine, food, and friends. Since 2008, they have tasted and created a fabulous wine named Persona, and in 2012 they added a second wine, Unmasked, cooler climate California syrah wine made in the Rhone style. Both 2013 wines are available online. Their wines consistently earn scores in the 90s. They have a wonderful product, terrific supporters and have sold out of our 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 vintages.
Futey received her Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and a paralegal minor from Augusta State University. Futey also serves on the Cuyahoga Valley Chamber of Commerce; the Board of Directors of Cornerstone of Hope; the Board at MOCA and Co-Chair of MOCA's annual LEAP gala, September 9, 2016.
