Maria has interviewed Larry Summers countless times and on Wednesday we met him in Washington. The setting: The White House – Eisenhower Executive Office Building. It’s always a pleasure walking up to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW and telling the guard you we have an “appointment”.

  • Happy 225th birthday Bank of New York Mellon! For a company that’s managed to survive the financial fallout, it looks like the bank is on firm footing. When CEO Bob Kelly spoke to Maria on the “Closing Bell” he told her the company is past the point where they need TARP. In fact, Kelly said the company ‘is willing and able to repay TARP as soon as the government allows.’

  • On Closing Bell today, we'll discuss the rise of BRICs and their growing economic clout. While this is a threat to America's prominence, David Riedel of Riedel Research Group says too much is being made of the issue, that BRICs are trying to take over the world or do something dramatic.

  • Our journey to Russia began in Moscow. It took weeks to lock down the date and time of the most important interview of our trip, President Dmitry Medvedev. What a huge score!

  • Maria plays of a financial journalist in the movie (which is who she is in real life and a darn good one!!!). Denzel Washington is watching Maria report about the markets and why the stocks on Wall Street are falling because of John Travolta’s actions.

  • All week we were waiting for the official word that BlackRock would buy Barclay’s, BGI (Barclays Global Investors). They finally sealed the deal on Thursday evening.

Few people have seen the changes on Wall Street like Peterson has through the years. When Pete spoke to Maria on the "Closing Bell" he told her the recent fallout is "the most serious, long-term crisis he’s ever seen."

  • Maria recently spoke to Hartford Financial's chief Ramani Ayer on "Closing Bell." Her exclusive interview covered all fronts – from getting preliminary approval to receive TARP money from the government to his announced retirement at the end of the year.

  • Billionaire casino owner Sheldon Adelson (like “Saddle”) celebrated the grand opening of another casino yesterday. Not in Vegas but Bethlehem. Yes you’re reading this correctly, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania’s “Sands Casino Resort.”
