Today on cnbc.com

It's a big day for the Federal Reserve as they hold their last meeting of the year. Their statement comes out around 2:15 p.m. ET--but we'll have outlooks from analysts before then. And we'll have reaction to what they do. Among the scheduled guests for post Fed statement release: Bill Gross from Pimco. He'll be on "Street Signs."

We'll also have the Citirgroup Smith Barney Affluent Investor Poll. This is where affluent investors give their perspective on trends in the investment climate. That's on "Morning Call."

There still some earnings coming out. One to watch is Best Buy. We'll have a close look at the numbers for the electronics giant. Other topics for the day include a look at hedge funds versus indexing. We'll have the view from both sides on "Squawk Box." Also on hedge funds--we'll continue our look at regulating them with guest Richard Moore--the North Carolina State Treasurer.

That leads us to our quote of the day from economist John Maynard Keynes: "Successful investing is anticipating the anticipation of others."
