German Economy Grew 2.5% in 2006

German gross domestic product grew 2.5% in 2006, a significant improvement over the previous year, the Federal Statistics Office reported Thursday.

The growth is in line with predictions from the International Monetary Fund, which said in December Germany is enjoying a "brisk cyclical recovery ... with rising exports."

The IMF predicts growth of 1.5% in 2007.
