Despite All The Green Talk, Coal Stocks Mysteriously Put Investors In The Black This Month
Coal stocks are on fire... and at a time when environmental awareness has never been more top of mind. Considering Goldman’s execs are using hybrid cars and President Bush is hyping ethanol, why are coal stocks - a fossil fuel - such a gem of late?
Eric Bolling says after President Bush spoke this week, investors realized that there won’t be a push away from coal to meet environmental standards. Eric says all coal stocks are good investments.
Karen Finerman likes Peabody Coal (BTU) in this space and when the stock is below $40 she recommends buying, but then adds this is a good stock to trade.
Pete Najarian says investors are buying high volumes of call options in CONSOL Energy (CNX),Alpha Natural Resources (ANR) and BTU. Pete says not only does he interpret this to mean their price will rise, but he thinks ANR is a possible take-out candidate.
Guy Adami adds that as a derivative play investors should consider the rails because the railroads move the coal. In that space he likes CSX Corporation (CSX).
