Wendy's International, the No. 3 U.S. hamburger chain, said it hired former Wal-Mart Stores Treasurer Jay Fitzsimmons as chief financial officer.
Fitzsimmons, 59, left Wal-Mart, the world's largest retailer, at the end of January. On Jan. 5, Wal-Mart said Fitzsimmons was retiring from the company.
He replaces Kerrii Anderson, who was promoted permanently to chief executive officer in November after filling that role on interim basis.
Prior to his 12 years at Wal-Mart, Fitzsimmons worked as a sell-side analyst covering the restaurant and hospitality industry, Wendy's said. Fitzsimmons has also been a senior officer and chief financial officer of several publicly and privately held restaurant companies, Wendy's said in a news release.
Fitzsimmons will oversee accounting, finance, internal audit, tax, treasury and information technology, the company said.
