Thirty-seven percent of dads say they would leave their jobs if they could afford it, according to the annual Father’s Day survey from CareerBuilder.
Another 38% said they would take a pay cut in order to spend more time with their children.
CareerBuilder’s survey, entitled “Working Dads 2007,” included 1,521 men employed full-time, with children under the age of 18 living at home.
CareerBuilder found that 27% of working dads spend more than 50 hours per week on work, and 8% spend more than 60 hours. One in four feels that work has a negative impact on their relationship with their children, as 42% spend less than two hours each day with their children.
The survey also found that 25% of working dads spend less than one hour with their children daily.
The good news? Companies are offering more programs and options that promote work/life balance. However, 36% of working dads say their company does not offer flexible work arrangements.
