Our Sea Change is about Hispanic buying power. On Tuesday, the Senate voted to give new life to a controversial immigration bill. Does this boost or hurt this population's buying power?
Entravision (EVC) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Walter Ulloa joins the guys for this conversation.
Is what’s going on politically relevant to your business?
“I believe so,” says Ulloa. “If the bill is passed it would increase the legal Hispanic population by about 9 million and it would provide an opportunity for these people who are undocumented to gain better employment and that would increase their buying power.”
How much more spending would you see?
“I don’t know,” says Ulloa. “The Hispanic market this year is $850 billion and estimated to be $1 trillion by 2010.“
How fast is your business growing as it is?
“Our business continues to grow 4 to 5 times faster than general markets.” says Ulloa. “Our television business is the biggest part of our business. It’s about 60% of total business.. and we have a radio business.”
