Remy Cointreau says First-Quarter Revenue Gained 6.3%


French drinks company Remy Cointreau said Thursday revenue for the fiscal first quarter rose 6.3%, supported by growth in all divisions.

Remy Cointreau, maker of Remy Martin cognac and Piper-Heidsieck champagne, said revenue for the quarter ended June 30 rose to 158.7 million euros ($218.67 million) from 149 million euros a year earlier.

The figure beat an average of four estimates by analysts polled by Dow Jones Newswires of 153.9 million euros.

On an organic basis, Remy Cointreau said champagne sales rose by 4.4% to 20.4 million euros ($28.11 million) from 19.5 million euros, while cognac sales jumped 11% to 71.2 million euros ($98.11 million) from 64.4 million euros, boosted by strong sales in its top-range brands in Russia and China.
