The Fast Misfires

Sometimes a stock is hot and other times it just burns. Following are the Fast Money misfires.

Guy Adami

Back on July 13th, The Negotiator was bullish on financial giant US Bancorp (USB). At the time Guy said, “I like US Bancorp. They have a pretty conservative management team. And they didn’t get into this whole subprime mess. And when other bank's "write-ups" or bad loans have gone up there’s have gone down.”

But after earnings it seems the company may have gotten into a little mess of its own. Shares have since fallen 12% as subprime fears still took down this bank stock.

Fast Misfires

Today Guy says get out of USB.

Karen Finerman

On July 9th The Chairwoman took a shine to an aluminum giant. Specifically Karen said "I like this Kaiser Aluminum (KALU) which I think is a supplier to Boeing and Airbus."

But the boom in aerospace couldn't lift this stock. It’s down 21% since her call after the company reported its first quarter profit slid 55%.

Today Karen still likes this stock and expects KALU to benefit from airplane building. She reveals she is buying this stock.

Jon Najarian

On July 20th, The Monster recommended buying a medical device maker. At the time Jon said “Zimmer Holdings (ZMH), I like it! This stock has had a very unusual options activity"

But buying was the wrong option as disappointing earnings led to a decline for Zimmer.

Today Jon says he lost all his money on this trade which was in options.

Jeff Macke

And finally, just this week, The Lone Wolf, our retail expert, came to the Fast Money desk wearing ugly orange plaid shorts.

It’s not a stock pick – but it’s still very wrong!
