McDonald's Sales Rose 6.5% in July, Boosted by Breakfast Menu


McDonald's said Wednesday sales at restaurants open at least a year rose more than expected in July, thanks to popularity in its breakfast menu, new offerings and later opening hours.

Overall same-store sales rose 6.5% for the month, compared with the year-ago period, well ahead of the 4.8% rise predicted by analysts surveyed by Briefing.com.

But U.S. sales at McDonald's rose just 4.3%, below expectations for a 5.6% gain. European sales rose 7.7%, while Asia/Pacific, Middle East & Africa increased the most with 9.9%.
