Corning Sees Earnings at High End of Forecast

Specialty glass maker Corning said Wednesday that its third-quarter profit would be in the higher-end of its forecast range, due to strength so far in the period.

The company said Senior Vice President Katherine Asbeck will tell an investor conference today that the company sees its profit per share before special items in the upper end of its previously stated range of 34 cents to 37 cents, on revenue of $1.525 billion to $1.575 billion.

"This is a reflection of the company's strong performance throughout the first two months of this quarter as well as continued strengthening of the yen, which could increase earnings per share by 1 cent this quarter," Asbeck will tell investors, the company said in a statement.
