POPS (stocks that jumped higher)
ValueClick (VCLK) popped 13% and Focus Media (FMCN) popped 19%. On Monday, Pete Najarian told you the online advertising trade was on in full force. – Pete Najarian likes this stock.
USEC (USU) popped 6%. Nuclear energy names like USEC were glowing green Monday, after word that NRG Energy sought approval to build the first Nuclear plan in 3 decades. – Guy Adami says own this stock but stop out on any close below $9.75
NAVTEQ Corp. (NVT) popped 11%. Monday, GPS navigation company Garmin was on our pops list...Tuesday, it's competitor NAVTEQ getting a pop, as the gadget trade continues to work. – Karen Finerman likes the GPS trade.
The Magna Carta. Billionaire and one time 3rd party candidate Ross Perot is selling his copy of the historical document, of which there are only 17 worldwide. He bought it in 1984 for $1.5 Million. This time around, Sotheby's expects it to command a price tag of $20 to $30 million. -Guy Adami says it’s a buy.
Tesoro (TSO) popped 3%. The oil refiner closed higher after word that it will become the newest member of the S&P 500. - Guy Adami doesn’t like refiners and recommends staying away from TSO.
China Finance Online Co. (JRJC) popped 13%. We've labeled Bidu as the Google of China...Well, call this one the CNBC.com of China. The financial information website was exploding Tuesday...meaning a total return of nearly 100% in just 5 days. – Karen Finerman jokes that for China, 13% isn’t high enough to be a pop!
Sick days today because of Halo 3 debut. USA Today reported that a significant number of students and employees nationwide called in sick today, to nurse their Halo 3 addiction.
DROPS: (stocks that slid lower)
Vonage (VG) dropped 34%! The internet phone stock Vonage plummeted below $2 per share, after a Federal jury said they infringed on patents owned by Sprint Nextel. – Karen Finerman says hang up on this stock.
Whirlpool (WHR) dropped 5%. Shares of Whirlpool went down the drain as sinking home sales hurt the fridge and dishwasher maker. – Jeff Macke says there’s no reason to own this stock.
Arena Pharmaceutical (ARNA) dropped 2%. This stock was up at the open Tuesday morning, after positive test results from an insomnia drug...but then shares fell back to sleep, closing down 2%. – Pete Najarian likes this stock and says keep an eye on ARNA.
Freeport McMoRan (FCX) dropped 2%. The world's largest copper producer slipped after a pullback in the metals market. – Jeff Macke says FCX is going to take the elevator down.
