Time magazine named Vladimir Putin as Person of the Year for bringing stability to Russia and raising its stature globally. So is Russia now a safer place to park your money?
No matter what you think of his politics, Putin has done an amazing job of balancing conflicting and competing forces in Russia says Tim Seymour on CNBC’s “Closing Bell.”
The Time article really brings to the forefront whether Russia has come to the table as an equal player. Putin might be a leader of consequence but in 10 years time those consequences will only be remembered as positive catalysts.
My trade is in technology media and telecom, Seymour adds, a sector that’s very underdeveloped in Russia. I like CTC Media (CTCM), the largest media company in Russia. Or for an energy play, why not look at Gazprom which trades on pink sheets here in the U.S.
It’s worth noting Tim Seymour ran fixed income at Russia's largest bank in the 1990’s.
