Tomorrow's Playbook - Lights, Camera, Earnings

#1-  Lights, Camera, Earnings

Who will be the winners and losers as News Corp. (NWS), Disney (DIS), and Time Warner (TWX) report earnings this week?

I love Disney, says Jeff Macke, for their Hannah Montana franchise and their CEO Bob Iger.

I like Disney too, agrees Tim Seymour, but for ESPN!

#2 - Death Of The Salesmen?

Wal-Mart (WMT), Target (TGT) and other retailers were roughed up Monday ahead of January sales figures out Thursday. Can you trade it?

Retail moved so sharply last week, says Karen Finerman, that investors had to take profits. When they pull back more, I’ll reload. But remember, only buy retailers with strong balance sheets, she says.

I agree with that, says Pete Najarian. Sell into the rally.

I think investors should trade retail in cycles, counsels Jeff Macke. Make a list and then wait for dips.

Sears (SHLD) could be a buy on valuation, says Tim Seymour. There’s talk of the company selling some of its parts.

Tomorrow's Trades: Retail Sales

#3 Pedal To The Metals

What's the trade ahead of Wednesday's BHP Billiton (BHP) earnings and the impending deadline for its Rio Tinto (RTP) offer?

There is potential for consolidation in the sector and certain players, including Alcoa (AA) and China’s Chalco don’t want to see it happen, explains Tim Seymour. However, I think consolidation remains a theme for all of ’08. As a result, US Steel (X) and Nucor (NUE) could be in play. Also check out Market Vectors-Coal ETF (KOL) as a way to play coal.

I’m long Rio Tinto, adds Karen Finerman, because I think BHP is going to bid.

Tomorrow's Trades: Commodities

Also keep an eye on Joy Global (JOYG), adds Pete Najarianas well as the coal names including Alpha Natural Resources (ANR) and Arch Coal (ACI).
