Mad Money

On the Line: Skyworks CEO David Aldrich

In Cramer's land of cell phone makers, Nokia reigns supreme. But there’s another player that Cramer has been behind since he started Mad Money even though its gains haven’t been as superb. It’s Skyworks Solutions , a company that makes the semiconductors and chips that go into cell phones, and its CEO David Aldrich called into Friday’s show to give Cramer an update on business.

Aldrich pointed to the dramatic upgrade cycle in the industry as people switch from the old 2G voice-only phones to devices that do everything from send e-mail to surf the web to give GPS directions. It is Skyworks’ job to integrate all these features while conserving battery life and Aldrich said the company has been spending millions in research and development to stay ahead of that transition.

Once a small player in the cell phone chip game, Skyworks has relationships with all the “big guys” now, Aldrich said, including Research In Motion and Apple . And as enterprise email penetration increases in the market – think BlackBerry and iPhone – he said Skyworks is now a majority supplier of the chips that make it possible.

Now more than ever, Skyworks is the cell phone component stock to own, Cramer said.
