See What People Are Saying About... Speed Limits & Corn

We could help our gas prices by millions if not billions of dollars and gallons simply by reducing speed limits on our highways. Many trucking companies are doing just this to save millions in fuel cost. It would drive prices down and create more supply. Ah the power of big oil!!!

And that leads to our Fast Money Reader Poll. Do you think we should return to a 55mph speed limit? Tell us what you think!

With a major weather system ready to smack the nations 8 largest corn growing states the lookout for timely planting 2008 corn crop does not look good.

Proper planting date in corn production is critical to preserving yield, the 2008 crop is starting out with a handicap. I like to say:  Once a runt, always a runt. The most important factor in producing bushels in corn is to get seed in the ground on time, then up out of the ground quickly. Wet cold weather slows germination and emergence.

It's important to watch the planting progress in the next 3 weeks. If we do see heavy weather delays expect lower than average yield on the corn crop that is planted.
