Singapore, 19 September 2008 – It’s been a historic time in the global economy, and CNBC’s coverage of this week has reinforced our position of being First in Business Worldwide, with viewership numbers spiking up to 291% in Singapore.

In this past week, CNBC recorded a 106% increase in viewership across all time bands on 15 September 2008.  The 10 pm time band recorded an unprecedented 291% increase.  The average increase on 15 and 16 September 2008 was recorded at 94%.  CNBC recorded the highest increase in viewership of all news networks in Singapore.

CNBC.com also recorded an increase in page views and saw more than 14.6 million page views on Monday and 15.4 million page views on Tuesday.  An exclusive online interview with a top financial professional recorded the highest page view hits in the history of CNBC.com - more than 240,000 hits within the first 24 hours it was posted.

"When it matters economically, people turn to CNBC, First in Business Worldwide, anytime, anywhere,” said Jeremy Pink, President and Managing Director, CNBC Asia Pacific.  “These results are a testament to the value of this network as being a resource of business and financial news and information."

"This reinforces the quality of CNBC’s content, offering fast, accurate, actionable and unbiased information and analysis, which is highly regarded by our elite C-Suite, high net worth, and financial audiences,” Pink continues.  “According to proprietary research, more than 67% of our viewers act on the information that they get from CNBC – on air and online."

"The increase in our ratings measured by Peoplemeter does not fully reflect CNBC’s performance, as it only measures in-home viewing and does not take into consideration out of home viewing in office buildings, trading floors and restaurants," Pink concludes.
