Qatar Airways Signs Global Deal With CNBC

CNBC, first in business worldwide, today announced a new global commercial agreement with Qatar Airways, the national carrier of the State of Qatar. The sponsorship and advertising deal, which begins this month and continues until February 2010, will run globally across CNBC’s networks in EMEA, Asia and the US.

Chief Executive Officer Qatar Airways Akbar Al Baker said: "Working with CNBC provides Qatar Airways an additional avenue to access a growing audience of influential executives with international business interests.”

The new campaign builds upon Qatar Airways’ successful sponsorship and association with Worldwide Exchange in 2008.

In EMEA, the campaign will consist of Qatar Airways advertisements running adjacent to CNBC’s global daily business news programme Worldwide Exchange. In Asia and the US, Qatar will sponsor Worldwide Exchange which will include commercial break bumpers, billboards and commercials, which will air exclusively on CNBC and promote a new Qatar Airways’ destination.

Worldwide Exchange, which is tri-anchored in Europe, Asia and the US and produced out of London, is the first worldwide daily business news programme that delivers in-depth analysis of trends affecting businesses and investors across international markets. Worldwide Exchange is aired daily to more than 100 countries across the globe and experienced its largest growth in the last quarter of 2008, with a 100% increase in total viewers versus the previous year.

Akbar Al Baker added, “This global campaign will further enhance the international reputation of Qatar Airways and we look forward to welcoming more business travellers onto our flights, which serve a diverse network of worldwide destinations.”

Paul Maraviglia, VP sales director, EMEA at CNBC, commented: “We are very pleased to continue our relationship with Qatar Airways with the renewal of the campaign around Worldwide Exchange. The programme is one of CNBC’s most widely distributed and perfectly suits the reputation of Qatar Airways as a premium airline with a growing global network.”
