Superman might spend plenty of time flying, but he needs to be light on his feet when he is on the ground.
With that rationale in mind, adidas has provided Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard with a lighter size 18 pair of shoes for the NBA Finals.
The shoe, called the TS Commander LT, weighs six ounces lighter than the TS Bounce Commander shoes Howard has been wearing for the last couple months. When Howard steps out on the court tonight for Game 1 of the Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers, his shoes will be grey and blue, a different look from the white and black colorways he wore throughout the playoffs.
The shoe, which features the company’s new fat stripe design that also stabilizes the midfoot, will retail for $100 on Oct 1.
Fans who really want a pair can actually get their hands on the pairs that Howard wears in the Finals. After each game, Howard will sign his worn pair and the shoes will go up for auction on NBA.com, with bidding starting at $1,012. All the shoe auctions will close on June 20, with the proceeds going to a charity that Howard will announce after the Finals.
