Take Your Position: Yahoo!

Carol Bartz took the helm of Yahoo! in January and since that time the stock has climbed 24%. Will Thursday’s shareholder meeting send it even higher?

That’s what investors want to know as they attempt to game this Internet search giant.

As you likely know Bartz has spent much of 2009 shaking things up. The 60-year-old executive moved swiftly to rebuild the Internet company to her specifications, upending the organizational structure, replacing executives and cutting costs including 675 jobs, or 5 percent of the workforce.

Analysts say that is exactly the kind of shake-up Yahoo! needed and it’s evident from the move in the company’s share price.

However, there remains one big wildcard out there and that’s Microsoft . On Wednesday Microsoft Chief Steve Ballmer said he’s still open to a partnership with Yahoo. Asked if a deal could be sealed in the next year, he said: "Who knows?"

So how should you trade this stock?

We have a buy rating on this stock as well as a $25 price target, explains Broadpoint AmTech analyst Ben Schachter. I think there’s still 20% upside. Essentially you have one of the world’s most visited websites trading at a discount.

What do you think? We want to know!
