Pops & Drops: American Eagle, Amylin

Following are the day’s biggest winners and losers. Find out why shares of American Eagle and Amylin popped while AIG and Supervalu dropped.

POPS (stocks that jumped higher)

American Eagle (AEO) popped 2%. Lazard upgraded the specialty retailer to 'buy' from 'hold' citing its positive sales trend. - This stock makes more sense than ANF, muses Guy Adami.

AFLAC (AFL) popped 6%. Credit Suisse upgraded the name to 'outperform' from 'neutral' citing stronger reserves. - You should know most of its earnings come from Japan, says Joe Terranova.

Stock Pops & Drops

Amylin (AMLN) popped 3%. The upgrade and increased price target from Barclays last week appears to have coat tails. - Momentum is taking it higher, says Pete Najarian.

Dreamworks (DWA) popped 2%. Caris upgraded the firm to 'average' from 'below average' saying the stock has come down to more "reasonable" levels now that speculation of a possible buyout has faded.

DROPS (stocks that slid lower)

AIG (AIG) dropped 14%. Bernstein estimated the firm's property-casualty operations could face an $11 billion reserve deficiency. - I'd stay far away, says Karen Finerman.

Supervalu (SVU) dropped 4%. Morgan Stanley downgraded the supermarket chain to 'underweight' from 'equalweight.' - In the space I like Walmart better, says Karen Finerman.

Home Depot (HD) dropped 1%. Weak Black Friday results dragged down retailers, including this home improvement giant. - 28 is resistance, reminds Guy Adami.

Gamestop (GME) dropped 3%. Lackluster Black Friday results triggered widespread profit-taking in most retailers, including this video game seller.
