Comcast Chief Operating Officer Stephen Burke has been elected to the Berkshire Hathaway Board of Directors.
Burke, who also serves as Comcast Cable's president, will join the Berkshire board in a newly created position.
"Steve at 51 is business savvy, owner-oriented and keenly interested in Berkshire, those are the three ingredients we look for in directors. Having him join us is a homerun for Berkshire." Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire, said in a statement.
With the addition of Burke to the board, there are now 12 board members, including Buffett himself.
Burke joined Comcast in 1998. Before becoming a part of the cable company he worked for The Walt Disney as President of ABC Broadcasting.
Burke also serves on the Board of Directors for J.P. Morgan Chase .
Burke's appointment to the board comes not long after a deal between Comcast and General Electric , CNBC's parent company, agreed on a deal to sell off NBC Universal to the cable company for about $30 billion.
